Terms of Service

Last updated 20 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and ELANTCH LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, whose registered office is at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). They govern your use of the Numou mobile app and numou.tech (together, "Numou").

By creating an account or using Numou, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Numou.

The short version. Numou is a till and stock app for your shop. Your shop's records belong to you, not to us. Keep your own copies of anything you need for tax or accounting. We try hard to keep the service up, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable, and we are not liable for your lost profits if it is. You can stop using Numou and delete your account at any time.

1. What Numou is

Numou is a point-of-sale and inventory application for small shops, cafés and market stalls. It records sales, tracks stock, prints or shares receipts, and reports on what the business has done.

Numou is a record-keeping tool. It is not accounting, bookkeeping, tax or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Tax rates, tax categories and pricing are configured by you, and you are responsible for whether they are correct and for meeting your own tax, invoicing, employment and consumer-law obligations. You should check figures produced by Numou before relying on them in a filing or a return.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Numou. To have one you must be at least 16, be able to enter a contract, and be using Numou for a business or trade rather than as a consumer.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including everything done by staff you invite and by devices you enrol. Keep your password and till PINs to yourself, give each member of staff their own access rather than sharing one login, and tell us promptly at contact@numou.tech if you think someone has got into your account.

The person who creates a shop is its owner and controls who else may see or change its records. If you invite someone into your shop, you are choosing to share your business data with them.

3. Your shop's records

Your products, sales, stock, staff records and customer contacts remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them. We store and process them so that we can provide Numou to you, and we handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

If you record other people's personal details in Numou — customers, staff, suppliers — you are responsible for having a lawful basis to do so and for telling them what you do with it. In data protection terms, you are the controller of those records and we process them on your behalf.

Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. We take backups for our own operational purposes, but they are not a service we provide to you and you should not rely on us to restore your records.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.

5. Plans and payment

Numou offers a free plan. Where paid plans are available, the features and the price of each plan are shown in the app before you choose one, in the currency shown there.

If you buy a paid plan through the Google Play Store, the purchase is made through Google and Google's payment and refund terms apply to it in addition to these terms; manage or cancel the subscription through your Google Play account. If we agree a paid plan with you directly instead, the payment terms of that agreement apply.

We may change plan prices or what each plan includes. If a change affects a plan you are paying for, we will tell you before it takes effect, and you may cancel rather than accept it. Changing plans does not entitle you to a refund of a period already paid for, except where the law requires one.

A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then reverts to the free plan — your data stays where it is.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to cancel a purchase within 14 days. Because purchases made in the app are sold by Google, that right and any refund are handled under Google Play's terms, through your Google Play account. Nothing in these terms takes that right away. Most Numou customers buy as a business rather than as a consumer, in which case the statutory right does not apply, but Google's refund terms still do.

6. Availability

We aim to keep Numou available and working, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, updates, failures at our hosting or connectivity providers, and problems on your own devices or network can all interrupt it.

Numou can record sales while a device is offline and sync them when the connection returns. That feature reduces the impact of an outage but does not remove it, and it depends on the device continuing to work.

We may change, add to, or withdraw features. If we withdraw something you materially depend on, or discontinue Numou altogether, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your records first.

7. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, and because Numou is supplied for business use:

8. Ending it

You may stop using Numou at any time. You can delete your account from Profile → Delete account in the app, or through the form at numou.tech/delete-account. Deleting an account removes data as described in the Privacy Policy, and cannot be undone — export anything you want to keep first.

We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service as described in section 6.

Sections 3, 7, 9 and 10 continue to apply after these terms end.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Numou after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, stop using Numou and delete your account.

10. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or their subject matter, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may bring proceedings for non-payment or for infringement of our intellectual property in the courts of the country where you are established.

11. General

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Numou. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we do not lose it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a company that takes over our business. No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
